**Of interest I saw Hungary pushing its “specialty” hams, cheeses and wines. They already sell a billion dollars of those in China now and hope to double that in the next year.. I wondered WHY the USA wasn’t pushing the same items.
A couple years ago a new yuppie restaurant/bar/music area opened two blocks from our home in Wuhu China, it features more than a dozen upscale bars restaurants, outdoor stage, frequent live concerts and a large international wine center with wine tasting and drinks. I found a few California wines but nothing else from the USA. I met a Chinese manager who gave me her card and phone number encouraging me to contact our famous (Michigan) Traverse City wine producers. I took pictures, brochures and her card and returned to Michigan only to be snubbed by the wine producers in Traverse City who apparently are happy NOT selling in the fast growing wine market called CHINA.
The Chinese love anything “made in USA” and pay top dollar for it (2–3 times as much as here). Go visit China, get outside of the major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and such. Our city of Wuhu is about 2 million people, maybe a quarter of them can afford to by American made products. There are 100s of cities in China with more than 2 million people so the market is BIG and opportunities endless.
