Alginate oligosaccharide
Alginate oligosaccharide, whose degree of polymerization is lower than 20, was produced by the degradation of algin, using different methods(acid degradation, enzymatic degradation, and oxidation degradation).
Alginate oligosaccharide is a linear polysaccharide consisting of α-L-guluronate (G) and β-D-mannuronate (M). According to the arrangement of these residues, three products, which are homopolymer (polyguluronate, PG ), ( polymannuronate, PM) and heteropolymer (a mixed sequence of these residues, PMG) are supplied.

Alginate oligosaccharide is yellow brown powder, and water-soluble with good stability.
Biological functions

Biological functions
1. Anti-tumor activity
Alginate oligosaccharide can activate nonspecific immune and specific immune system. After activation, macrophage cell can inhibit tumor cell proliferation and kill the tumor.
2. Anticoagulation
Heparin, as an effective anticoagulant, gradually displayed its side effects in clinical. Alginate oligosaccharide has good anticoagulant activity and decreases side effects.
3. Lowering blood lipids and glucose
Appropriate doses of alginate oligosaccharide can prevent hypercholesterolemia well, has the function of lowering blood lipids and maintaining the normal cardiovascular function.
4. The free radical scavenging activity and antioxidation
Alginate oligosaccharide has the free radical scavenging activity, significantly reduces lipid peroxide content and improves peroxidase and SOD activity.
