Redmi, a smartphone brand subsidiary to tech firm Xiaomi Corp., announced its independence on Thursday afternoon and unveiled its new product Redmi Note 7.
Note 7 features a water drop screen design. It comes with a 16 centimeter (6.3 inch) screen, with the models coming in either blue, gold or black.
As the first product after its independence, the product is carved with trademark "Redmi" instead of "Mi" on its back side.
Note 7 with up to 64 GB for storage will be sold at 1399 yuan (205.9 US dollar).
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also announced earlier on the day that former CEO of domestic smartphone brand Gionee, Lu Weibing has become the vice president of Xiaomi and general manager of Redmi.
