Logistics company DHL-Sinotrans International Air Courier Ltd announced on Wednesday it will donate more trees for planting in Fengning county of North China's Hebei province, under its new agreement with the China Environmental Protection Foundation to battle pollution.

DHL-Sinotrans promised to give more southern Chinese pine and apricot saplings to the county, and expand its green area by 13.3 hectares for a better soil-water balance, sandstorm protection and climate improvement.

The move is considered helpful to improve air and water quality for both Beijing and Tianjin, as the county is close to the two cities.

"We will make more effort to improve China's environment and reduce the country's carbon emissions, as a part of the company's larger efforts in carrying out corporate social responsibilities," Wu Dongming, general manager of DHL-Sinotrans, said.

Prior to the move, DHL-Sinotrans had rolled out a series of measures to achieve more sustainable development, such as promoting the use of bicycles and electric bikes to its staff who manage pick-up and delivery services.
